It's your adventure. Stay Focused

Eye Treatment Options

Designed to eliminate or reduce the need for glasses or contact lenses, refractive surgical procedures are a safe and popular choice for those seeking freedom from visual hardware.

These procedures correct refractive errors by changing the focus of the eye.

Common procedures such as LASIK and PRK do this by reshaping the curve of the cornea (the clear front window of the eye) in order to move the point at which light is focused onto the retina (light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye).

SMILE® uses a high-performance femtosecond laser to create a lenticule (tissue disc) inside the cornea, accessing the incision in a single treatment step to correct vision.

Intraocular Lenses (IOLs), another popular treatment, involves placing an artificial lens inside the eye to more accurately focus light onto the retina.

Treatment Options

Our most popular laser surgery, Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) corrects refractive error by creating a micro thin flap and reshaping the underlying cornea with an excimer laser. The flap is then repositioned and adheres naturally within a matter of minutes.

Recovery time is usually rapid with little or no post-operative pain - typically you could expect to return to work and even drive within 24 hours!

PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy)

Treatment Options

PRK, or Photorefractive Keratectomy, is a treatment that is sometimes recommended for people with thin corneas, as the laser does not penetrate as far into the eye's surface as in LASIK procedures. PRK also uses the excimer laser to reshape the surface of the cornea and correct refractive errors.

A contact lens is then placed on the cornea like a bandage to speed the epithelial regeneration process, which usually take three to four days.

Phakic ICL's

An Implantable Collimer Lens (ICL) is an ultra-thin, soft and malleable lens that can be implanted into the eye through a small incision underneath the eyelid. The ICL is made of Collamer, a unique material which the body accepts. ICLs are often a very effective way of treating nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism of high levels, or for people with thin corneas.

Cataract Surgery

As we age, the onset of cataracts can affect our vision, making it harder to drive safely, read easily and see well enough to do work or enjoy activities to our full extent. Although wearing glasses and increasing the strength of bifocals may help in the short term, eventually having the clouded lens removed and replaced with an artificial lens may be the only treatment. Like a clear lensectomy, cataract surgery has a fast recovery time.

Femto-Lasik is an advanced, computer guided laser technology that provides a more predictable, safer approach to the important first step of the Lasik procedure, creation of the flap. Femto-Lasik utilises femtosecond technology to produce a light beam generating thousands of pulses per second to form a layer of microscopic bubbles within the cornea to create the flap. Femto-Lasik is more precise, consistent and safer method, making this truly ‘all laser LASIK' procedure.

Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (SMILE®) is the 3rd generation of laser vision correction, a breakthrough procedure for the treatment of refractive errors like myopia and astigmatism. Whereas LASIK and PRK treatments require the creation of a corneal flap, SMILE is the first minimally invasive procedure to repair vision without having to create this flap. Utilising the latest femtosecond laser technology, patients can expect faster treatment time, shorter recovery, less side effects and excellent outcomes. SMILE will also benefit patients with thin corneas, dry eyes, contact lens intolerance and those who were previously unsuitable for LASIK.
