Biography
Dr Laurence Sullivan is a highly respected corneal specialist with extensive expertise in the medical and surgical treatment of diseases affecting the front of the eye. Based in Victoria, he specialises in small incision refractive cataract surgery, keratoconus cross-linking, corneal transplantation, and laser refractive surgery. A dedicated educator, researcher, and advocate for global ophthalmic care, Dr Sullivan has transformed the lives of countless patients while contributing significantly to the advancement of eye health in Australia and internationally.
Experience
With a career spanning decades, Dr Sullivan has held prestigious roles, including Clinical Associate at the University of Melbourne Department of Ophthalmology and the Centre for Eye Research Australia. He has served as an examiner for RANZCO and has authored numerous scientific papers and book chapters. Internationally, he has volunteered with the Hollows Foundation, teaching and conducting fellowship examinations in Cambodia, Vietnam, and other underserved regions. Dr Sullivan also founded Bayside Eye Specialists in 2005 and serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Australian Society of Ophthalmologists.
Education & Institute
Dr Sullivan earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) before completing specialist ophthalmology training and obtaining a Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO). His public hospital teaching appointment was at the Corneal Clinic of the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, where he played a key role in training registrars and fellows.
