Biography

Dr Michael Shui is a highly accomplished ophthalmologist specialising in glaucoma and comprehensive eye care. With an extensive background in both general medical practice and ophthalmology, he combines a patient-centred approach with advanced clinical expertise. Based at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (RVEEH), Dr Shui is dedicated to delivering exceptional outcomes for his patients while contributing to the advancement of global eye care through education, research, and volunteer work.

Experience

Dr Shui has an impressive track record of academic and clinical excellence, demonstrated through his dual expertise in general medical practice and ophthalmology. Currently, he is a staff specialist at the Glaucoma Clinic at RVEEH and an article reviewer for the journal Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology. Dr Shui regularly attends international conferences to stay abreast of the latest advancements in glaucoma and ophthalmology. His commitment to global eye care is evident through his participation in the Equal Health overseas aid program in Chennai, India, and his ongoing dedication to developing world eye health initiatives.

Education & Institute

Dr Shui graduated with first-class honours in medicine from the University of Melbourne, where he received multiple prestigious awards, including the 1996 RACP Prize in Clinical Medicine. He achieved his fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2000 before specialising in ophthalmology at the RVEEH, where he also served as a Glaucoma Fellow. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO).
