Biography

Dr Colby Hart is a fellowship-trained corneal specialist with expertise in treating diseases of the front of the eye, including keratoconus, corneal dystrophies, and complex cataracts. Based in Melbourne, Dr Hart is highly skilled in refractive laser surgery and all forms of corneal transplantation, including endothelial grafts and keratoprosthesis surgery. Known for his innovative approach, Dr Hart is dedicated to providing personalised care that improves the vision and quality of life for his patients.

Experience

Dr Hart is a consultant at the RVEEH, working in the corneal and general ophthalmology units. He has a strong research background, with publications and presentations in collaboration with the Centre for Eye Research Australia, Lions Eye Bank, and Liverpool University. His research interests include the use of artificial intelligence in ophthalmology and initiatives to increase corneal donation rates in Australia. Dr Hart’s contributions to the field have been recognised with multiple awards at national and international conferences, and he serves as a reviewer for the British Medical Journal of Ophthalmology.

Education & Institute

Dr Hart earned his Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) before completing specialist ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (RVEEH) in Melbourne. He pursued advanced fellowship training in cornea, refractive surgery, and ocular surface disease at Liverpool, UK, under the mentorship of Professor Stephen Kaye, a globally respected leader in the field.
