LASERSIGHT Centres Australiasia has been inducted into the Sunshine Coast Excellence in Business Awards Hall of Fame having won service category the past two years in a row.
The company helps people achieve visual independence and as Manager Robert Kay said, this is a procedure that does change people's lives.
"It is a very rewarding industry to be in because there is this wow factor and this smile on their face," Mr Kay said.
"It's like a burden has lifted and they become more themselves - It gives them less to worry about."
The company started in Queensland in 1995 with Dr Peter Stewart being the first surgeon in Australia to carry out laser procedures.
But while they were obviously pioneers in the laser surgery industry, Mr Kay said that being the first to do something is pretty short-lived success. They have built the business around the philosophy of good service and good results with safety a high priority.
"We strive (to achieve this) from the moment you enter the front door to the moment you leave spectacle-independent."
LASERSIGHT Centers has 60 staff throughout Australasia and 15 ophthalmologists. The company now boasts clinics throughout Australia, in Indonesia, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
